About

My stained glass is a combination of the contemporary with a hint of medieval...

Is that possible?

About

Hello...

I came into stained glass while living in the Forest of Dean, a good 15 years ago at night classes, and after learning the basics of copper foiling and leaded lights, I wanted expand my knowledge to painting on the glass too. Again I did part time course at Hereford School of Arts where I was taught by the talented Glass Artist and Print Maker, Franz Wesselman.

Invaluable

I then was lucky enough to land a full time job at a Stained Glass workshop on the Herefordshire/Welsh border specialising in restoration. I spent a whole year taking out church windows taking them apart, re-leading them and putting them back in.
This was an invaluable experience and I learnt a lot of traditional techniques.

Change

I then moved back to Harrogate, North Yorkshire, where I worked in offices for a good 15 years. During this time not wanting to lose my skills I bought a kiln, and then encouraged by an artist friend I applied for North Yorkshire Open Studios, which then led on to more Makers Art Fairs. This all seemed to point in the same direction, so finally in early 2019, I took the leap and set up by myself full time.

Beginnings

I now work out of a small workshop in Harrogate, North Yorkshire, where I am lucky enough to be able to split my time between making small beautiful art pieces to sell, private commissions, general repairs and restoration.

My Work

My style has contemporary medieval feel, and is inspired by the natural environment, the weather, and flora and fauna. with celestial bodies being a big theme as well as Green Men.

My copper foiled fish are now a staple of my work, and are forever changing works that use up most of the off cuts left over from larger projects. Each a one off original created
to fit the shape of the piece of “scrap” glass.
